Launched in 1983, the A310 is essentially an A300 with a shortened fuselage, redesigned wing, and smaller vertical fins. The A310 was developed specifically for developing airlines as an introductory wide-body airliner and also established Airbus in the aerospace industry and allowed for future projects such as the A320, A330, and A340.
