About Boeing 777

B777

The 777, commonly referred to as the "triple seven" is the world's largest twin-engine jet and the first commercial aircraft designed completely on computer. Although initial designs called for an enlarged B767, Boeing quickly realized that a totally new design was required as the market demanded short intercontinental range capability, larger cabin cross section, and fully flexible cabin configuration, all with operating costs lower than that of the B767. The B777 entered service in 1995 with United Airlines and since then more than 1,000 orders have been places for the airliner.
