Represented in true to scale accuracy and a high level of detail, it's as close to walking inside the real thing as you can get! One of the best-known aircraft of the current day is Air Force One, the name given to two Boeing 747s designed to carry the US president. The call sign “Air Force One” can in actual fact refer to any aircraft that has the president aboard, but the term is often used synonymously for this specific pair of planes. The first dedicated presidential aircraft was a C-54 Skymaster, a long way from the two sophisticated Boeing 747-200B aircraft that have been used in the USA since 1990. These customized aircraft are known as the Boeing VC-25A, with all sorts of classified command and communication equipment installed inside. In a war scenario, the president could stay aloft and maintain secure communications with his forces and governmental apparatus. The two VC-25As are operated by the 89th Airlift Wing at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. Dragon continues Project Cutaway with an exciting new 1/144 scale model of Air Force One. The cross-sectional nature of this model reveals much of the interior of this highly classified aircraft. The cabin has a new layout in keeping with its specialized function, quite different to the first item Braniff 747-100 cutaway model. Even the wings and engines, as well as the fuselage, receive the fascinating cutaway treatment! It’s not easy to see, let alone get aboard, these US presidential aircraft, but now collectors can keep their own personal Air Force One on their desks!

Customer Reviews
Dragon Wings 144 scale Air Force One VC-25A (747-2G4B) 4D Vision!
I waited a long time to get this model. I had at one time also had the Braniff
B747 on order but at the price decided just to get this model.

I am sorely disappointed in the model and in Dragon Wings who has produced more of a toy than an important replica.

Before I get too much more negative I want to say I love the size of this model.
It is a good 16 inches long and the wing span is also large.
The concept of being able to see inside an aircraft is great but
the use of plastic instead of metal on this replica is a shame.

The large medium should have been an opportunity to put great details on the model. The landing gear are scaled but they do not have rubber tires
and the tires don't roll. They do have hub caps and visible lug nuts which is nice.

The model has a really nice stand. You can fit it out with gear up or down. The main cabin door can be displayed open or closed. They could have done with with the other doors on the model.

The model comes with a mobile stairs and a little figure who looks to me like it is President Obama waving. The engines are scaled and have a cutaway to look inside. The main wings also have a cutaway in which you can see the fuel inner wing structure.

There are several antennas on the model. Dragon Wings missed the fact that there actually antennas on the horizontal stabilizers on the tail of the aircraft. It would have been easy to add those.

It is too bad DW didn't look at the images on A-net as they could have easily found other items that would have taken this from the toy level produced to the detail model collectors want. For goodness sake, this is Air Force One. More photographed than any other plane on earth.

One final straw for me is the box art. It is marked B747-400 instead of 200.

I was going to give this model a 2 star rating. That is the lowest I have ever rated a model after more than 350 reviews but...my wife came in and told me that she really like the Air Force One. It was cool, she said. This is from a woman who hates my collection.

This made me think at least for some people this model is pretty good so I gave it 3 starts instead of 2.

I will go one step further here. If you have a kid you know who is showing interest in aviation or model collecting you might want to fire them up with this model. As the wife said, it was cool.
