Gemini Jets American Airlines Douglas DC-3-277B (cn 2202) NC21798 (Flagship Knoxville)
I love DC-3s. This one is on permanent display in front of C. R. Smith Museum on the American Airlines campus near Fort Worth at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (KDFW). This plane flew for AA from 1940-1948. The model is as shinny as the 18 pictures on A-net. The model is tiny, maybe around an inch long with spinning props and has a micro size antenna on the top of the fuselage. The images of the real aircraft look a little more red than the red-orange colors on the model. American Airlines DC-3s are represented in 400 scale by five models. Of the five three are made by Green Box, one by Herpa and the latest GJ example. I got to say...I love the DC-3 but I wonder why GJ chose this particular airframe. Herpa, Green Box and now GJ have made this same registration number. As a fleet collector I wish they would have done a different tail number but I suppose since this aircraft is preserved at the CR Smith Museum
