Aeroclassics 400 CP Air "Expo 86" DC-10-30 C-GCPD 902 (cn 46541/281)
This is an interesting airframe with several incidents in its life that allowed it to be a unique model. C-GCPD was originally painted in the CP Air orange livery. It is a color that looks like it is made for a DC-10 and when you put it on the Aeroclassics mould it is a great replica. The Expo86 logo was added to this aircraft as well as a B737-200 and a B747 as well as a B727-100. After the merger into Canadian Airlines the airframe was painted in those colors. MTV rented this aircraft for their "Fly2K" party in the sky which makes still another interesting application of paint to this air frame. There was at least one other DC-10 marked with the Expo86 and orange colors. It belonged to Untied Airlines N1836U. It is of further novelty that Dragon Wings did N1836U in the CP Air orange colors with the N1836U registration number.N1836U was one of three DC-10s swapped with CP Air. It was a DC-10-10 rather than -30. I love the Aeroclassics mould with a great nose, well done cockpit and passenger windows and a slew of other details such as scaled landing gear and cargo bay doors. The nose gear carries the fine number 902. I am glad to have both the AC version of Expo86 and the DW version in my collection. Review by James F (Posted on 4/6/2011)
