Hobby Master 200 DC--7C "Seven Seas" “Clipper Bald Eagle,” N731PA (cn 44873/656) Pan American World Airways
This DC-7C was built in 1956 and delivered to Pan American World Airways Nov., 1956 and flew for them through 1965. It was eventually converted to cargo. The model is a replica before the conversion. The registration was eventually retired but then pasted on a Pan Am B747-100 in 1969. There is an black and white image on A-net of this aircraft: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Pan-American-World/Douglas-DC-7C-Seven/1671831/L/&sid=b978a20de964a627445034368a59c440 This model features some neat details that Hobby Master has as standard on their DC-7s. The non-rolling tires on scaled landing gear are detailed enough to show the lug nuts on the hub caps. The paint colors appear correct for the time this aircraft served with PAA. The 731 fleet number is on the nose gear cover. The font of the printing is correct for placement and size. Nose shape and cockpit shape appear correct. The body of the mould is well done and the tail and wings are properly shaped. Markings on the tail, including the flag, the "super 7" and the registration number are spot on. Several antennas were ignored by HM, surprisingly as they could have added a little more detail by having them on the aircraft. The engine shape is perfect and features spinning props. This is a very nice addition to my 200 scale Pan Am collection. It goes well with the other white top Pan Am's. Review by James F (Posted on 11/19/2011)
