This model is a replica of one of a kind that Delta flew Sept. 17, 1966 through August, 1973. The L-100 was converted to L-382B Oct., 1968. It went on to work for Pacific Western Airlines (CF-PWK) Nov., 1973. In April, 1981 the aircraft was flying for Northwest Territorial Airways (C-FPWK). The aircraft was written of April 11, 1982 at Paulatuk, Northwest Territory and burned on ground while unloading fuel,
The Delta widget looks wonderful on this model.
We have a white backdrop to paint with the Delta Widget colors. There are only two images of this aircraft on A-net and from them AV200 captured the fonts correctly and placement of the labeling is spot on. The nose and cockpit shape as well as the windows are replicated perfectly.
The props on the model spin but are a bit wobbly. The reproduction of the labeling on the props adds another dimension to the details on this model.
There is an antenna aft of the cockpit on top of the fuselage that is depicted on the model but in the images there is a hook back on it that seems AV200 could have replicated. The landing gear are scaled and feature rolling tires. The extra fuel tanks on the wings are properly positioned and feature the Delta logo on them.
This is a unique model to add to the widget collection. (Posted on 11/26/2015)
