What a great model. It was unfortunate for Herpa that I received this model in the same shipment. Herpa doesn't hold its own compared to the GJ unit.
This aircraft was the first to place the Delta on the belly of the aircraft. It was build in 2014, It fitrst flew Aug. 21, 2014 and was registered to Delta Sept 5, 2014.
This aircraft is dedicated to C.E. Woolman the founder of Delta this is nicely depicted by his signature on the nose along with the information about him founding Delta.
The GJ model is filled with details not on the Herpa version of the Delta 737-900.
The nose shape is perfect, the cockpit windows are cut correctly and are of a dark black or gray color, standing out nicely. The windshield wipers add another nice touch to the nose area.
The passenger doors not only depict the door handle but also several two small to see scrawlings that the Herpa unit does not have.
This model has antennas on the top and bottom of the fuselage, has warning lights on the fuselage and the wing tips right at the base of the winglets. Clearly the landing lights are marked on the wings next to the fuselage. and they are also marked on the nose gear. The wing also has the emergency egress areas depicted.
Passenger windows and doors are printed sharply and stand out nicely on the white back drop of the model tail colors are correct and the fin number is at the top of the tail. Wings merge cleanly to the fuselage. The model has scaled rolling rubber tires.
The GJ model will always be a better bet than the plastic Herpa unit.
