German Panzer II Ausf.C Pz. Rgt. 31, 5 Pz. Div. Eastern Front 1941 1:72 True 1/72 scale. Professionally painted. Weathered finish. Great attention to detail. All markings are Tampoed (pad applied). Rubber tracks. Extremely heavy metal with a minimum of plastic. Highly collectable. In 1934 there were delays in design and production for what would be the Panzer III and IV tanks. The temporary solution was the Panzer II or Panzerkampfwagen II (PzKpfw). It was a larger version of the Panzer I but with a 20 mm anti-tank gun. The Panzer II was in production from 1937 to 1943 and remained in service until 1945. The Ausf. C was the most produced variant of the Panzer II. The Panzer II chassis was used to produce several other types of tanks. The 5th panzer Division was formed in November 1938 at Oppeln that was in Prussia at the time. Equipped with 335 tanks it took part in the invasion of Poland from September 1, 1939 until May 1940. Next they fought in France until April 1941 before moving to the Balkans and Greece where they stayed until June 1941. June 1941 until March 1945 was spent in fierce fighting on the Eastern Front ending with the surrender of the 5th Panzer Division to Soviet forces near Danzig, Poland in April 1945.
