Aeroclassics 200 US Navy Blue Angels L-1049 AC19087 Constellation
This is a new mould for Aeroclassics200 and the first L-1049 Constellation.

I was surprised to see this on two levels. 1) we have several companies that have a 200 scale Constellation mould and 2) the subject mater and choice of aircraft to be produced.

A number of years ago Herpa200 produced a U.S. Navy Blue Angels support aircraft.

The color reproduction on this model is much more real than what is depicted here in this product release. When I first saw these colors I thought maybe this was a different aircraft but in actuality the model matches the real aircraft color perfectly.

There is great similarity between the two models but also a couple of differences.

Antennas on the AC version seem more accurate when compared to various photo images of the aircraft. There are two antennas on the AC version while the Herpa has only one.

The other difference that is noticeable is the doors on the AC version which are depicted with a double door affair compared to the Herpa version.

The Aeroclassics version has rolling rubber tires. The nose shape, cockpit and cockpit windows are matched perfectly with the actual aircraft. Spinning props add to the authenticity of the model.

The Aeroclassics version is my pick if I had to choose between the two productions.

I am surprised at AC's choice of aircraft to model. Also, hope that if AC does a bunch of new Connies that make sure they do different registrations that the once already done.
