Macchi C.202 Folgore Carlo Maurizio Ruspoli, 91 Squadriglia, 10 Groupo, 4 Stormo
Scale 1:72
The 17th release in the Oxford Diecast series of 1/72 scale, die cast warplanes, this model replicates a Macchi C.202 "Folgore" (Thunderbolt) - the best Italian fighter of World War II - flown by 11-victory ace Carlo Maurizio Ruspoli (Prince of Poggio Suasa and heir to an ancient title of nobility through his Roman family) when he commanded the Regia Aeronautica's 91st Squadriglia "Baracca," 4th Stormo, in 1942 North Africa.
It features textured surfaces, a detailed cockpit with a glazed canopy, two wing-mounted 7.7mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns, a mottled camouflage scheme, and authentic markings, including the squadron's famous prancing horse (which later became the emblem for Ferrari) on the fuselage. 5¾" wingspan; includes a display stand that identifies the plane and pilot.
