Herpa 400 Pan Am Boeing 747-SP-21 "Clipper Young America - Flight 50" N533PA for its 50th anniversary (cn 21025/273)
N533PA is a very special plane. It was one of several B747-SPs that flew for Pan Am. This one in the billboard colors is so awesome and it is a special model in that it commemorates the 50th anniversary of Pan Am. The aircraft was delivered to United May 3, 1976 as N143UA. It was broken up for spare parts at Ardmore, OK March 1986. It made its first flight under Boeing colors Nov 3, 1975. It was delivered to Pan Am March 5, 1976 with the name Clipper New Horizons. This is a wonderful model. The colors are perfect. It wears the special "50" logo forward of the 1st class passenger windows. The landing gears are nice but still lack some detail that could be on a 400 scale model. The nose and cockpit are shaped properly. The passenger windows and doors are crisp in their printing, maybe just a touch too black. The landing lights and warning lights are visible on the model. Cargo doors are marked on the polished metal belly. Review by James F (Posted on 7/31/2011)
