The aircraft was delivered to Pan Am 6/87. Sold to Trans World Express 12/91. Later to Italair as EI-COC and written off after hard landing at Alghero on January 20, 1998. The nice thing about commuter aircraft is there ability to make a quick turn around. The aircraft has its own stairway so it can land with out the need for a jetway. The ATR42 was a replacement for commuter aircraft of classic vintage of the 50s, 60s and 80s. The first ATR42 flew in 1988. Later a larger version of the ATR72 was created and featured a 72 seat capacity over the original 42 seat version. This is a very tiny model, maybe a little over an inch long. It has spinning props, scaled landing gear and the correct Pan Am Billboard colors. Doors and windows are sharply printer on the model. (Posted on 3/13/2011)
