Gemini Jets 200 PSA B727-214/Adv N558PS 234 (cn 21692/1482) Orange colors with smiley face
Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) is sort of a cult favorite airline even though they have not been around in many years. This aircraft first flew May 7, 1979. It was delivered May 21, 1979 to PSA. Built as 727-214/Adv it was converted to 727-214/Adv(F) freighter. Other serials - PR-IOF with Rio Linhas Aereas, N558PS with Piedmont Airlines and Meridian Trust Company, N753US with USAir and Piedmont Airlines, and also N786AT with American Trans Air, Astar Air Cargo, and Wells Fargo Bank Northwest. Stored at ROW during February 2003 for short time. Now stored at IGM. PSA started up in the 1940s with surplus aircraft from the military: DC-3, 4s and 6s. Serving only California it became a very popular service for The Bear flag state. During their B721 and B722 era aircraft ran as frequently as hourly starting in San Diego going to LAX and SFO. What was so different about this airline was the way the employees went the extra mile with their passengers from singing songs to dressing up for Halloween and other holidays. The model compares well with the images on A-net. The model's color match with the 1:1 is near perfect. There are multiple antennas, the over the wing emergency egress arrows, crisp printing of the passenger and cockpit windows. The model has rolling scaled landing gear. Cargo bays are marked on a silver belly model. Landing lights and warning lights add more detail to the replica. In 200 scale we don't have more than a half dozen PSAs so this is fertile ground to make more models. Review by James F (Posted on 3/14/2012)
