Western Models Delta DC-8-51 "Fanjet" widget N818E (cn 45808/243)
N818E built in 1965 and was delivered to Delta Nov. 23, 1965 and flew for them till March, 1981 when it was sold to F. N. Ayers and Associates. It flew for Madives Airlines and was later broke up at KYIP, date unknown.

There are a number of images on Airliners.net which are helpful to compare to the model. Western Models has done a very good job on this model.

The shape of the nose, cock pit and cock pit windows is perfect. I do wish the model makers would use black windows, though. These are dark gray-not

When I look at the model I was struck as to how straight the nose gear is but sure enough it is on the images as well. The landing gear is scaled correctly and has rolling rubber tires. The nose gear cover has the fleet number printed on it.

For the most part the seams are okay. Work could be done to make them more invisible, however. The tail has a visible seam were it merges with fuselage but the wings are invisible.

On the wings there are emergency egress arrows. You can see the warning lights on the ends of the wings and on the top of the fuselage.

The passenger windows and doors are clearly marked. Cargo bay doors are also clearly marked on the polished belly of the model. There are three cargo bay doors, two in the front and one in the back.

Those of us that collect Delta will be glad to add this model to the collection. There must be 100 or more Delta 200 scale models.
