Aviation 200 Continental DC-10-30 "Black Meat Ball" N68060 (cn 47850/331) "Robert F. Six".
This airframe has an interesting history. At one time it had a split colors, one side in full Continental colors and black meatball and the other side Alitalia Airline colors. It flew in both red and black meatballs. In 1999-2000 it flew as a leased plane from Continental for Hawaiian Airlines and was painted in a special white base and commemorating Hawaiian Airlines 70th Anniversary. After the least was up it went back to Continental and was around long enough to have the Gold globe tail. The model shape in general is good. The colors may be off just a touch when compared to images on A-net but not enough to break the deal in buying this model. Cargo bay doors stand out nicely on the white back drop of the base color of this plane. Antenna's and warning lights add detail to the model. Passenger windows are crisp. The cockpit shape is good and cockpit windows well shaped. There are no seam problems on this model. Detailed rolling land gear are part of this model. I like it when they put the fin number on the nose gear covers as is the case with the model. The engines on the wing have the GE logo making for another nice touch of detail. The plane was named for Continental CEO Robert F. Six who was CEO from 1936 to 1981. Review by James F (Posted on 4/5/2011)
