Aeroclassic 400 Trans-Canada Air Lines - TCA Canadair DC-4M-2/4 North Star M2-4 (CL-2) (cn 126) Ship 202 CF-TFB
Douglas and Canadair joined forces to make DC-4Ms in Canada of which TCA bought many of them as did the Canadian military. TCA called this plane a 'North Star', but to BOAC it was an 'Argonaut' - a DC-4 with Rolls-Royce engines. There are five images on Airliners.net: http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?cx=partner-pub-8297169501225184%3Aa05n2n-tzky&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=CF-TFB&sa=Submit&search_active=1&search=&sheadline=&search_field=datedesc&submit=&siteurl=www.airliners.net%252F. These images make it easy to make comparisons between the model and the actual aircraft. On this model Aeroclassic has done a reasonable job on the nose and cockpit area. The landing gear is well done in scale and hub caps. The nose wheel covers have the fleet number printed on them. The rectangular passenger windows are accurately reproduced. Colors of the model match with the actual plane. The engine and props are shaped correctly but Aeroclassic could have added a little extra by painting the black on the leading edge of the props. Later on this plane was converted to cargo with the windows removed. It also got the sharp white top later used in the TCA liveries. The aircraft was built in 1947.
