Customer Reviews
Herpa 200 United Airlines Vickers Viscount 745D N7408 (c/n 106)
Built in 1955, N7408 had its first flight Dec. 10, 1955 for Capitol Airlines which merged with United in June, 1961. UAL inherited 40 Viscounts from the merger. But the Viscount came on board with a limited number of days as the jet age was already replacing props quickly in the late 50s and early 60s. United sold this and other Viscounts in Jan., 1969. Does anyone remember seeing this bird with its round passenger doors. This was different than most aircraft of the time. The model has the latches visible. The fleet number of this aircraft is printed on the nose gear covers. The landing gear are scaled nicely but Herpa could have added lug nuts for another little piece of reproduction. If you look at the few pictures that are available for this aircraft it would appear the nose too short and too steep on the model. But that is the only issue of note.
