About Airbus A340

A340

The A340 shares a similar design as the A330 with the exception of longer length and larger wings. The project by Airbus was meant as a long-range complement to the A320 and A300 which are short to medium-range airliners. Airbus also found themselves at a disadvantage against four-engine airliners such as the B747, the A340 hoped to bridge this gap. With entrance into commercial service in 1993, the A340 brought along new technology features such as utilizing joysticks instead of yokes for control and is also the first commercial jet that enables the use of mobile phones during flight.

Eztoys carries a great selection on A340 die-cast models from Gemini Jets, Dragon Wings, and Phoenix.
