Delta Air Lines operated the MD-11 in passenger service from 1991 to 2004.
This particular MD-11 was leased by Delta from Mitsui from 1991 to 1993 in
order to cover Delta's fleet shortage until more of its own MD-11s were
delivered. This MD-11 was particularly unique to the fleet as it was only
one of two MD-11s flown by Delta that had GE CF6 engines as opposed to 17
Pratt and Whitney PW4460 powered MD-11s Delta purchased directly from
McDonnell Douglas. After initially flying with Delta this MD-11 was used
by VASP for passenger service, and eventually it was converted into a
freighter. From 2000 on it flew for several freight airlines, and it is
now registered as N412SN and listed as active for Western Global Airlines
as of December 29, 2015.

Customer Reviews
- Seattle Model Company Delta MD-11 Widget N892DL GE CF6-80C2D1
-
This model features something I have wished the model makers would have done long time ago. The landing gear have pins that sit in the gear wells. You can't make a mistake.
The company produced only 60 copies of this registration. There are two other Delta registrations also produced in the 60 copies short run. The model comes with a heavy stand and looks great on display in the air or on the tarmac.
The wiget colors sure are nice on the white back drop of early Delta jets.
The Delta logo is on the fuselage and placed over the windows and cheatline.
The colors are perfect.
The wings merge with the fuselage nearly seamlessly. The engines are correctly shaped. This version of the MD-11 had General Electric CF6 engines.
On the top of the fuselage are several antennas and a red warning light. Warning lights are also on the ends of the wings and on the belly of the model.
The cargo bay doors are clearly marked. The passenger doors and passenger window look spot on.
For this airline's history this is a must have. The model makers have really gone to town on giving the collectors many, many early Delta jet examples in the widget colors.
