In 1983, this TU-144D designated "101" set 14 different altitude and speed records. In the late 1990s, it was extensively modified and operated by Tupolev and the US space agency NASA together as a test platform. On April 14, 1999, this aircraft completed the last flight of a TU-144. Twenty years later, in the fall of 2019, the machine was restored and repainted in its original Aeroflot colors. It is due to be issued shortly before Zhukovsky Air Force Base.
