AEROCLASSIC/WESTERN MODELS National Airlines L-1049G Constellation N7131C ((c/n 4828)
In the fall of 1957 National put four Super Constellations into service on their New York to Havana route. They were later used on "Club Coach" services. They augmented the DC-6Bs and DC-7s already in service. The Super Connies were used until 1963 and then withdrawn and put into storage in Miami. N7131C was later sold to Nordair as CF-NAJ. It crashed flying for Canairelief while landing at Uli Airstrip during the Biafran Airlift in 1969.

This model joins the original Western Models 200 scale N7132C in my collection. The old Western models had screws attaching the wings to the fuselage. The new Western has come a long way in diecast models.

The new version of the Super Connie features a dorsal antenna which really stands out compared the the original which had little detail in terms of antennas.
There are few pictures of this aircraft. On the images examined the engines had NAL labels on them Actually the detail on the engines of the old version is much more extensive than the new version which smooths out engines.

The National markings are printed clearly and on the model. The nose shape is right on the mark, the cockpit windows are a dark gray color which crisp and concise.

National was the Airlines of the Stars and they promoted it as such with livery markings on the fuselage. The wings meet fuselage seamlessly compared to the old version which has a very poor merger between the wing and the fuselage

The landing gear are properly scaled and feature rolling rubber tires.

It is good that Aeroclassic used a different tail number on this model. The older version was N7132C

Although the new Western version says this is a "G" model the references to its history label it an "H"

Connies are among my favorite old aircraft so I am glad to add this one to my collection of NAL's in 200 scale.
