Inflight 200 Northeast Airways B727-295 Yellowbird Scheme - N1641 (cn 19446/471)
The Yellowbird colors of Northeast Airlines of the mid-60s til their merger with Delta in August, 1972, were among the most attractive colors in the airline business in their day. This air frame first flew Nov. 20, 1967 and was delivered to Northeast Dec. 11, 1967 and flew for them till the merger. It later flew for Piedmont till merged with US Air. I have a couple of negative things to say about this model. The nose is not pointy enough and the seams where the wings merge with the fuselage are noticeable. That being said this model as a lot of good features too. Rolling tires and scaled landing gear, the fleet number printed on the nose gear covers, sharply printed passenger doors and windows. They look great on the white back drop of the colors. There are multiple antennas on the fuselage, the engines are shaped well. Warning and landing lights add further detail to the model. Cargo bay doors are crisply marked. These fine details are why I am giving it a 5 star rather than 4 star rating. Review by James F (Posted on 9/9/2011)
