Aviation400 Aerlingus L1011-385-1-14 Tristar 100 G-BBAF
I bought both this version of the Aviation 400 Aer Lingus L-1011 G-BBAF and the Caledonian version with the same registration number. I collect Aer Lingus mainly because my wife is Irish and I have been trying to get her a little more interested in the models. (Really the Irish part of this was just an excuse for me to start another fleet and I have most everything issued in 400 and 200 scale for Aer Lingus.) I must say that I am bothered by the color of these two models. They are a darker and less bright green than all of the other Aer Lingus models previously issued. The printing leaves something more to be desired as the windows are not sharp and crisp on either of the models. This registration also flew in British Airways colors, full Caledonian colors, the hybrid Caledonia-Aer Lingus colors and finally in full Aer Lingus colors. With regard to the green color, when you look at the pictures on A-net they do look a little duller than other Aer Lingus aircraft and maybe that is because this airframe was paint so many times and in so many different ways. If you check Airliners.net you will find several hybrid and transitional colors. Both models come with the short stands provided by Aviation400. Review by James F (Posted on 8/31/2010)
