Hogan 200 American Airlines DC-3-178B N17334 "Flagship Detroit" (cn 1920)
This plane still flies 73 years after its first flight! A friend of mine photographed it is extreme detail for me when it was at the Cheyenne, WY airport a couple of years ago. I am glad to see Hogan has dusted off its DC-3 mould. This model came out at the same time Flagship Knoxville was released. NC17334 was built 1937, has the Wright engines 1820F56, oldest operating DC-3 in the world. I would have liked it if Hogan would have added the antenna aft of the cockpit. It is a detail that is easily do-able at 200 scale. The window color also could be enhanced by making it a darker color or black. The Wright 1820F56 engines are correctly shaped and of the proper size but here again some more detail could have been added and they could have used black paint on the engine parts that are visible under the cowling. This model comes with a nice metal stand and now joins Knoxville and a earlier gem released by the odl Western Models. We have really gathered up a good number of AA prop jobs in the last decade. Thank you to the model makers for helping to document this! Review by James F (Posted on 4/5/2011)
