Southern was a regional airline (known at the time as a "local service air carrier") as designated by the federal Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) operating in the United States from their founding by Frank Hulse in 1949 until 1979 when they merged with North Central Airlines to become Republic Airlines, which on October 1, 1986, then became part of Northwest Airlines, which, in turn, was merged into Delta Air Lines in 2008.
The -10 is a small aircraft with less than 80 seats.
Our example has colors perfectly reproduced in the white and dark blue. On the top of the fuselage is a forward antenna. There is also a warning light. The cock pit shape, nose shape and the PAX windows and doors are clearly depicted.
On the wings are printed emergency egress arrows. The landing gear is scaled and features rolling tires. The nose gear cover has the fleet number on it.
This is one nice model of the -10. We don't have many models featuring Southern Airways so this is a nice addition to the collection. (Posted on 4/19/2015)
