This British Airways Boeing 747-400 benefited from a powerful transatlantic jetstream created by Storm Ciara to set a new subsonic speed record for a New York-London flight. Operating flight BA112 on February 8th, completed the flight from New York John F Kennedy airport to London Heathrow in 4h 56min. This flight time was 1h 20min faster than scheduled for the route. The previous subsonic record of 5h 13min was set by a Norwegian Boeing 787-9 in January 2018, operating between New York JFK and London Gatwick.
