CF-TFC
DC4M North Star - 71 DC-4s were built by Canadair under the designations North Star, DC-4M, C-4, and C-5. With the exception of the single C-5, these were all powered by Rolls-Royce Merlin engines and 51 of them were pressurized.
Cubana North Star. In 1961, a Canadian company called International Air Freighters was formed, with its head office in Edmonton, Alberta. They bought 3 surplus North Stars for the purpose of transporting freight between Toronto and Cuba. The flights lasted about seven hours and were regularily intercepted by the USAF. The company ran into financial difficulty in 1962 and went out of business. CF-TFC was abandoned at Malton Airport and scrapped shortly afterwards. This did set a tradition of cargo flights between Toronto and Havana, which continues today, operated by a Cubana TU-204 and previously by various Canadian cargo operators.
