Aeroclassic 400 West Coast Airlines F-27 N2701 northern california
Thank you to Aeroclassic for the latest group of F-27 models. This aircraft was delivered to West Coast Airlines May, 1958 and was part of the merger with Air West April, 1968. The aircraft went through a series of owners, including the Mexico Navy. The aircraft was stored by the Navy at Cozumel in 1991.

The aircraft used Dart 510 engines which are accurately reproduced on the model. The nose shape, cockpit and cockpit windows look good. There is a good deal of detail on such a tiny model.

The oval shaped passenger windows and passengers door are reproduced accurately. The colors of this model are spot on. Spinning propellers and rolling tires further add to this model.

My copy of the model has a significant gap between the tail and were it fits into the fuselage. The gap is big enough to see light through it. (Note that the two Bonanza models had the same gap but the Air West units did not. It is unclear how widespread this problem is but most of us that cherish this era of California aviation history will put up with it.) The only image of this aircraft on Airliners.net is: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Fairchild-F-27A/0639211/L/&sid=8f3a9ad8a004ab1f99e4987cadb49f16 The picture was taken much after leaving the WCA colors.
