Aeroclassic 400 CP Air "Canadian Pacific" DC-10-30 C-GCPC "Empress of Amsterdam" 901 (cn 46540/268)
This is another contribution to aviation history by Aeroclassic with their spot on DC-10 mould. The Empress of Amsterdam was one of the aircraft that was part of the transition colors to "Canadian." The DC-10 was delivered to CP Air and placed in their orange colors March, 1979. With the merger the airframe eventually was painted in full "Canadian Colors" and later was sold and converted to cargo for MTA Cargo. The airframe had been slated to go to National Airlines and had a white tail ready for the "Sun King" logo but eventually went orange. Previously, her white tail wore logo of National Airlines (SunKing). First flight was November 29, 1978. Delivery date was March 27, 1979. Built as DC-10-30 it was converted to DC-10-30(F) freighter. Other serials - N304SP with Centurian Air Cargo, Wells Fargo Bank Northwest, and Finova Capital, PP-VMO with Varig, C-GCPC with Canadian Airlines, and PR-MTC with MTA Cargo - Mastertop Linhas Aereas. Temporarily stored at GYR prior to freighter conversion. This airplane was also known as "Empress of Quebec" during its ops with CP Air. During the transition period one side of the was "Canadian Pacific while the other side was "Canadien Pacifique." Review by James F (Posted on 4/6/2011)
