Aeroclassics CP Air DC-10-30ER "Empress of Fiji" C-GCPG 905 (cn 48285/352)
This is another wonderful DC-10-30 from Aeroclassics. I remember some of the first AC DC-10s...almost all of them had broken nose gear. Dealers sent out replacements and after that almost all of the AC DC-10s no have the nose gear packed separately so you have to glue it in. C-GCPG has an interesting history. This plane also flew in the United Airlines Saul Bass colors. United leased from CPAir while CPAir leased a DC-10-10 from United. A total of three CPAir -30's (C-GCPF C-GCPG & C-GCPH) for three United -10's (N1834U N1836U & N1837U) was the agreement. There were no registration changes. When the plane came back from UAL it was painted back into the Orange CP Air colors. Eventually this airframe was painted in Canadian International's colors after it was merged. The model features many details that give it the classic realism collectors want. The model has detailed landing gear. The nose gear have have the fin number on it. The windows are crisp and clean. The cockpit windows and nose of the model are spot on with the real aircraft. Review by James F (Posted on 4/6/2011)
"Empress" You bet!!
This CP AIr DC-10-30 was surely one of the wide bodied royalty flying the skies during the early '80s. It has an interesting livery scheme combination and was fairly easy to spot in flight or on the ground at airports. As usual, Aero Classics,
has done an excellent job in representing this aircraft from CP Air. A nice addition to my collection.
