This model is one of three Northwest DC-4s issued by Aeroclassics. Each one has small differences and it is a pleasure to see the model maker take the time and effort to give us this third DC-4 in Northwest Airlines colors as part of airline history.
Like the other two, N95413 started out with the USAF as Douglas C-54A-10-DC and was delivered June, 1944. It was later taken over by the Navy and designated a Douglas R5D-1.
The records don't show when it came to work for Northwest Orient.
The model has scaled landing gears and rolling rubber tires. The cargo bay doors are marked. This aircraft also had a large cargo door as well.
The colors are spot on and really look great with the white top on the fuselage. This allows for crisp perfect printing of the passenger doors and windows. On the fuselage you can see warning lights.
All and all this is another good addition to the Northwest prop collection and a contribution to airline history. (Posted on 6/17/2015)
