I was an U.S. Air Force brat as a youth so I did not get to see the Navy version of the Convair. The overall model compares with with images of the real plane, however, it was pointed out on 400scalehanger.com that 1) the tires are way to large for this 400 scale model and 2) No US Navy aircraft have their full serial numbers painted on the wings as depicted in this replica. The Convair C-131Fs have nothing above the starboard wing and 'NAVY' below the port wing. These to me are serious but not so serious as to prevent me from adding this model to my collection. I display my models on an airport diorama and in the overall presentation...it is hard to notice things like this because when one looks at the airport you see the broader details. I hope for more Convairs and hopefully they will get the tire size corrected and catch errors that are easily preventable if you look at photos of the actual aircraft. (Posted on 8/9/2010)
