USAF Boeing C-17 'Charleston AFB' 1:200
I received this model August 9. In that package there were so many new models I waited to open this one, last. Got all the 400s open and on display and then made it through the four 200 scale planes I had. This one was last. It was so heavy. I handled it with two hands. Carefully removing it from the packing material...to my chagrin, one of the engines had fallen off in shipping but it was easily reattached. It is so beautiful, this model. The gray color has a feel of roughness to it on the metal skin of the aircraft. There are many, many fine details in its markings. The model, just like its 400 scale cousins, has a ramp that opens. (Some one now needs to make a slew of 200 scale, US jeeps, trucks, construction equipment, tanks etc to go with this model, along with a 200 scale troops!) I was very worried about the stand as GJ has had some bad luck with their stands for other 200 scale models. This one was easy to assemble, just two screws and the model itself set down nicely on the top of the stand. I giggled it a little to make sure it would not fall. If this model fell it will destroy other models as it must way more that two or three pounds. The model also features rolling tires and is marked with the Charleston AFB colors. Personally, I am not sure I will collect all of the future ones (Canadian Air Force for sure) but because of space and other factors it may be best to get just the one. If you are a modern military collector this is a must for the collection in my opinion. Eventually I think I will use it with my 200 scale Air Force One or with Air Force Two. Besides troop and equipment transporters, this type of aircraft flies with the president as a support aircraft, bringing in the limos and other equipment needed for AF1.
