Hobby Master 20 Lockheed L-1049G Super Constellation Northwest Orient Airlines "N5175V"
N5175 was built in 1955 and delivered to Northwest Feb., 1955 but only flew for them till 1958. The aircraft went to Linea Aeropostal Venezolana in 1958 I have the old Western model from the early 2000s and it doesn't hold a candle to this one. The paint colors are sharper on this model. There is an antenna behind the cockpit that is not on the old WM. The nose gear and nose gear cover on the model look more realistic than on the old WM. The polished underbelly of this model is far superior to the previous version. The older model has printed on the wings the registration number while this version does not. I believe NWA only had four Connies L-1049s because as they purchased them Douglas announced the DC-7, of which NWA bought 17. One of the discussion groups mentioned they felt HM nose gear wasn't tilted correctly. This model shows the correct slant. Review by James F (Posted on 1/10/2012)
