The actual aircraft crashed at Dexter, IA on January 19, 1955. Pictures of the crash can be found at http://www.baaa-acro.com/Photos%20d%27accidents%201955.htm You can see a piece of the aircraft's nose (before the crash) on Airliners.net at http://www.airliners.net/photo/Convair-580/1633798/ As for the model I wondered at first about the blue color if it was dark enough but even the faded images we have of the plane would say that GJ got it right. The window placement is good. They got the shape of the PAX windows and they are sharply printed on the model. The passenger door positioned properly. The antenna aft of the cockpit appears scaled to me although some the discussion groups described it as too large. The landing gear on the model appears to be a touch to long but is not a deal breaker. I am of the opinion that the more of the old props we get the better for the hobby
