This is a special model. It is the replica of the US Airways flight 1549 (LGA-CLT) which was hit by a flock of birds and made an emergency landing in the Hudson River. The pilot and crew along with the 155 passengers all survived the crash on water. There are many pix of this aircraft on A-net, including the damaged aircraft from the January 15, 2009 crash. Some people do not like models of real aircraft that crashed but I do. I like the history aspects. In this case it was all good news from a pilot who was highly trained and was able to take the disabled aircraft into the water without any deaths in spite of the cold January waters of the Hudson River. Prior to the crash the aircraft flew in the dark blue colors of US Airways and was part of their shuttle service. The model features the excellent details the GJ has provided with their other A320s with attention to detail on door markings, cargo bay markings, landing and warning lights. This 200 scale model joins my fleet of more than 30 US Airway models. (Posted on 11/2/2010)
