Details
Mohawk Airlines Convair CV-440 ~ N4401 This prototype of today’s regional airlines tore down a historic barrier with the recruitment of Ruth Carol Taylor in 1958: she was the first Afro-American flight attendant working for a US airline. Mohawk was a very innovative and in the 1950s and 60s very successful airline in the north-east of the USA. It became known inter alia by its naming after the Native American Mohawk tribe. The name was the result of a passenger competition in 1952. Herpa Wings 1:200 Die Cast Very Detailed Precious Model Air Craft. Limited Pcs World Wide

Herpa200 Mohawk Airlines Convair CV-440 ~ N4401
Collectors may also see a review of the Gemini200 version. As mentioned in that review. this model carries the same registration number. It is hard to say why the model makers would do this but this particular airplane was the first in the series for Mohawk. Compared to the GJ version the Herpa has less detailed landing gear but doors are more detailed on the Herpa version. Both have captured the colors well but the GJ version has a more gold cheatline that is slightly wider than the Herpa version. The Mohawk symbol is on top of the engine back to the top of the wing while the Herpa version merges directlyinto the week. The nose landing light on the GJ version is much more vivid than the Herpa. The Herpa nose is shorter and more round than the GJ version. These images actually point to a more blue color around the windows than then either of the models. Review by James F (Posted on 4/27/2011)
