Aeroclassic 400 Northwest Airlines DC-7 N293 extremely limited release
N293 is the second Aeroclassic Northwest DC-7 for the fleet. Built in 1957 and delivered to Northwest May, 1957, it flew for them till March, 1962 and then later went over to Ona Airlines under the same registration number and was withdrawn from use in 1964. Northwest flew 17 DC-7s. Most of them, including N293 were eventually converted to cargo. By May, 1967 almost every US airline got rid of their prop aircraft so they could promote themselves as all jet airlines. The DC-7 Aeroclassic mould is quite good. The model has a great shape for its nose, cockpit area and cockpit windows. The model has master the colors of Northwest in all ways. The cheatline is correct and the colors are correct. Cargo bay doors are painted on the model. Engines are properly shaped. Passenger windows look good as do the passenger doors. It is currious to me about the tail art. The two examples Aeroclassic has made do not show the word DC-7 on the tail. Look at these examples: http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?aircraft_genericsearch=%3D%22douglas+dc-7%22&airlinesearch=%3A%28%22northwest+orient+airlines%22+OR+%22%28northwest+orient+airlines%29%22%29&countrysearch=&specialsearch=&keywords=&sort_order=photo_id+desc&page_limit=15&daterange=&range=&thumbnails=&engine_version=6.0 None of the examples there show the nose art behind the cockpit windows.
