- Inflght 200 United 747SP Large Titles N142UA
-
N142UA first flight was October 10, 1975. Delivery date was March 29, 1976 to Pan Am. Delivered to United Airlines on October 2, 1996. Other serials - N532PA with Pan Am as "Clipper Constitution" & "Clipper KISS Special", N347SP with The Boeing Company, and also N142UA with UAL - United Air Leasing and FSBU - First Security Bank of Utah. Broken-up at Ardmore, OK during February 1996. Wears FN 8142 & 4542 with United Airlines, and also FN 532 with Pan Am.
N147UA was also done in the Saul Bass colors by Inflight but it has the small titles. I like both examples.
In real life there were not many more than 50 B747-SPs This makes this replica very special.
The mould is well done. It is almost seamless even were the wings meld with the fuselage. The white top is a perfect board for the Saul Bass colors and the United large titles.
The colors in all aspects match the real 1 on 1 aircraft.
The model has several antennas on the fuselage, landing lights on the wings and warming lights on the fuselage and the wings. The passenger windows and passenger doors are printed vividly on the fuselage. The cockpit is shaped correctly as are the cockpit windows. You can see the windshield wipers printed below the cockpit windows.
Rolling, scaled landing gear further add to the detail. (Posted on 6/27/2013)
