Sécurité Civile Sud Aviation SA316 Alouette III -GHSC Base Chamonix / Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace Herpa 580847 1:72 Highly detailed Herpa Wings 1:72 Scale series The SA.319 Alouette III is a light single-engine multi-purpose helicopter from the French manufacturer Sud Aviation, later Aérospatiale. Including the licensed productions in India and Switzerland, over 2,000 copies of the “Feldlarche”, as “Alouette” is translated from French, have been produced since 1959. Even today, numerous examples are still in military and civilian use due to their simple and robust design as well as their good flight controls. The Alouette III, registered F-ZBAN, began its career with the French Air Force in 1963. After serving at twelve different bases, it joined the fleet of the Groupement Hélicoptère de la Sécurité Civile (GHSC) in Chamonix in 1981. It ended its deployment there in 2009 and was handed over to the Air and Space Museum in Le Bourget near Paris. In total, in its 28 years of service, this Alouette has flown 9,200 hours of 13,600 flight hours for the GHSC alone and has saved more than 10,000 people
